INTERNSHIP Program

In 2008, twenty eight Interns have participated in the Internship Program of Grameen Trust. Through Internship Program, GT provides an opportunity to students interested in having an in depth understanding of microcredit in general and Grameen methodology in particular. At various stages, Interns are guided to prepare reports, case studies and impact studies of the Grameen members. Some of the Interns are assigned to review and edit reports whereby they can get an idea about the activities of GT. Field visits are organized for the Interns to facilitate them gain practical knowledge of the Grameen methodology. During the field trip, Interns attend center meetings, visit borrowers' houses, collect information from the borrowers to know about the impact of Grameen credit. Through Internship Program, Grameen Trust intends to provide theoretical as well as practical exposure to the Interns about Grameen credit delivery mechanism and its impact on the borrowers.

In 2008, most of the Interns were very enthusiastic to know about the direct implementation program of Grameen Trust in U.S.A (Grameen America, Inc.). They wanted to know the progress of the project, whether the staff of GAI are facing any challenges in implementing the program in the richest country of the world, how the challenges are being tackled etc. Some of the Interns prepared annual progress report and impact study reports of the borrowers of GAI. Some Interns showed interest in the program that Grameen Trust has developed for the beggars; "Project Dignity". They visited some members of Project Dignity and prepared impact study reports. They were very impressed to see the positive impact of this program in rebuilding the livelihoods of the people belonging to the lowest rung of the society. Other Interns studied the reports of the direct implementation programs in different countries in order to gain insights of implementing microcredit programs following Grameen Bank model in different socio-economic set up. They were highly satisfied with the Internship program, as their stay proved to be very fulfilling and rewarding.

Many Interns of Grameen Bank visited GT in this year to gain knowledge on its activities and replication experience. They were very interested to know about the ongoing direct implementation projects in U.S.A, Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific region. Some of them took special interest in partner organizations of Grameen Trust in their respective countries.
