Family Bank in Bahrain

At the invitation of the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) in Bahrain Professor Muhammad Yunus, honorable Executive Trustee of GT visited the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2007 during which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between MoSD and Grameen Trust to establish a microcredit program in Bahrain following Grameen Bank approach for the benefit of the poor. As a result, a microcredit program with the name "Family Bank" has been established in 2009. The program is expected to be operational in 2010.



Grameen Aval Colombia, Colombia

As per the official statistics 46% of Colombian population lives below the poverty line and about 17% in extreme poverty. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Grameen Trust, Bangladesh and Aval Group, Colombia on June 08, 2009 to establish Grameen Aval Colombia to serve the poor with financial services in Colombia. Grameen Aval Colombia plans to reach 10,000 members within five years of its operation.
