Professor Muhammad Yunus, father of microcredit and founder of Grameen Bank, received the 2008 James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award at the Tech Awards Gala on November 12, 2008. Professor Yunus also met the 25 innovators from around the world who were also celebrated for applying technology to solve the most urgent issues facing humanity.

Perticipants at the Grameen workshop in Nepal
A Training workshop on Grameen Audit was held in Katmandu, Nepal, from October 19 - 22, 2008, jointly organized by the Rural Microfinance Development Centre (RMDC) and Grameen Trust. Mr. Shamsul Alam Khan Chowdhury, General Manager (Training), from Grameen Trust, and Mr. Siddiqur Rahman, General Manager (Audit), from Grameen Bank, were present at the workshop as resource persons.
Mr. Shankar Man Shrestha, CEO, RMDC, inaugurated the training program. 31 participants from 28 organizations participated the workshop.
The workshop covered an array of topics, such as: Objective of Audit, Behavior of Audit Team, Accounting vs. Auditing, Types of Errors, Types of Audit, Methodology of Audit, Internal Control System, Internal and External Audit, Report Writing and Compliance, and Grameen Experience in Auditing etc.
The Deputy Governor of The Reserve Bank of Nepal was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony and shared his valuable experience of financial information in Nepal in his concluding speech.
