The Vision Summit 2009 will be held in Berlin from November 7 to 8. This year's theme will be "Social Business - Next Wall to Fall." The summit will be complemented by a number of complementary events on the "Vision Days" from November 4 to 9.
Following the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall the central question will be: Which Wall will fall next - The Wall of Poverty. Thematic priority of the Vision Summit 2009 is put again on Social Business in the sense of a sustainable solution to fight poverty globally. Professor Muhammad Yunus and numerous other Nobel Peace Price Laureates and international leaders will attend the summit to set impulses on overcoming The Wall of Poverty in the next 20 years.
Peter Spiegel, former Secretary-General of the Global Economic Network, established the innovative conference design of Vision Summit in 2007. The very first Vision Summit took place on the occasion of the G8 Summit 2007 in Germany, to present visionary concepts facing social problems like poverty, climate change and decreasing natural resources. The Vision Summit has been organized by the GENISIS Institute since August 2008.
This year's recipients of the prestigious Vision Award 2009 will be Ms. Nurjahan Begum, Managing Director, Grameen Shikkha, Mr. Friedrich Kiesinger, Founder of Pegasus and the Grameen Danone team.
